Riverside Health, an integrated care system serving southeastern Virginia, has finalized an agreement to implement Abridge's generative AI-based clinical documentation platform across its network.
Following a successful two-month pilot, the healthcare system will roll out the solution to over 750 providers, including those in emergency departments, inpatient settings, and specialties such as physical therapy and medical residencies.
Abridge's platform integrates with Epic, automating real-time clinical documentation to reduce administrative tasks. Riverside Health chose Abridge for its superior note quality and its ability to lighten clinicians' workload, enabling them to spend more time with patients.

"We found that the platform delivered on our bottom line while allowing our clinicians to develop deeper relationships with their patients and provide better care," said Dr. Charles Frazier, senior vice president and chief medical information and innovation officer at Riverside Health.
Abridge reports that its platform has significantly improved clinician experiences, including a 61% reduction in cognitive load and a 55% decrease in burnout, a critical issue contributing to workforce shortages in healthcare.
Dr. Brett Brodsky, chief resident of family medicine at Riverside Health, noted that Abridge has allowed him to focus entirely on patient care without worrying about documentation during office visits. Dr. Shiv Rao, Abridge CEO and a practicing cardiologist, emphasized the company's commitment to working with patient-focused health systems like Riverside to enhance care efficiency.
The expansion at Riverside Health follows other Abridge partnerships with major health systems such as Reid Health, UPMC, and the Mayo Clinic. Earlier this year, Abridge secured $150 million in Series C financing, including a strategic investment from NVIDIA.
