Carestream Health announced on Tuesday that the upgraded version of its Clinical Collaboration Platform is now available for shipment globally.

"With the continuous consolidation of radiology groups in the U.S., the ‘mega’ radiology organizations are looking for healthcare IT solutions that offer secure image access to all stakeholders, a drive for operational efficiencies and regulatory requirements,” Neville Skudowitz, global director of commercialization and strategic development for healthcare information solutions at Carestream, told HCB News.

He added that the new version of the Clinical Collaboration Platform plays into these requirements and enables healthcare providers to access and manage all images using a standards-based platform.

The platform has a new Workflow Orchestrator feature that delivers imaging exams to the most appropriate radiologist based on priority, subspecialty, relationships and availability. When the desired turnaround times are met, the studies are exposed to a broader group of available radiologists to satisfy service-level agreements.

"The Clinical Collaboration Platform leverages AI technology to drive quality of service and productivity gains,” said Skudowitz. “These are achieved through algorithms that drive worklist efficiency, and where AI results prioritize exams in the worklist."

The platform enables chat and live screen sharing to support collaboration among physicians, radiologists and other stakeholders that can ensure expert advice is instantly available. It also offers comprehensive report search capabilities using natural language processing combined with ontology-based searching, metadata filtering and sorting.
