SMARTABLATE™ RF Generator
is a radiofrequency generator designed for use in cardiac ablation procedures. The generator can be configured to work with a variety of other devices and meets the highest standards for safety, precision, and ease of operation.
The generator is compatible with a large number of catheters and devices. For a listing of devices and accessories, see Section 5.2, Accessory Lists.
The generator is operated via an easy-to-use user interface. Selections can be made on the screen by touching it (even when wearing surgical gloves) or by tapping it with a pen.
The generator features redundant protection circuits (if one safety mechanism fails, a second safety mechanism indicates the failure to ensure safety). A central computer processor operates the device. Several other microprocessors control the various functions, such as RF power output and calculation of impedance. The generator is equipped with a memory unit that stores the settings even after the generator has been turned off. These settings are active when the generator is turned on again.

SMARTABLATE™ Remote Control
is an accessory for the SMARTABLATE™ RF
Generator. The physical appearance and the user interface of the two devices are almost
identical. However, the remote control is not designed to connect to patient cables such as
catheter cables and indifferent electrode cables. The SMARTABLATE™ Remote Control
allows remote control of the SMARTABLATE™ RF Generator from outside the patient area.
The SMARTABLATE™ Remote Control was designed to ensure simple, intuitive, and userfriendly
operation. This accessory features a touch screen for making selections and setting
parameters. Critical safety functions are controlled by buttons that are operated independently
of the touch screen. A prominent red Stop button has priority over all other functions and
connected devices, thus immediately stopping RF energy delivery when pressed.
Use of the SMARTABLATE™ Remote Control requires familiarity with the device and its
operation.

The SMARTABLATE™ Irrigation Pump
is a peristaltic pump designed to work in conjunction
with the SMARTABLATE™ RF Generator and other STOCKERT RF generators to deliver
irrigation solution at specified flow rates to irrigated catheters (such as the Biosense Webster
CELSIUS® THERMOCOOL® Catheters and NAVISTAR® THERMOCOOL® Catheters) for
cooling purposes. The pump is used with the SMARTABLATE™ Irrigation Tubing Set that
conducts the irrigation solution from an external source to the compatible irrigated catheters.
The SMARTABLATE™ Irrigation Pump was designed to allow simple, intuitive, and userfriendly
operation. When connected to the SMARTABLATE™ RF Generator by the supplied
interface cable, the pump can be controlled directly from the user interface of the generator.
Simultaneously, the pump transfers status information regarding solution flow rates back to the
SMARTABLATE™ RF Generator to allow safe operation. If an error occurs in either of these
devices, the necessary notification and recovery steps are initiated simultaneously in both
devices.
The pump can be operated directly from the pump user interface when it is not connected to
the SMARTABLATE™ RF Generator.
Use of the SMARTABLATE™ Irrigation Pump requires familiarity with the device and its
operation. The user should read this manual, which describes how to operate the
SMARTABLATE™ Irrigation Pump, and should attend a presentation on the operation and
configuration of the pump provided by Biosense Webster. The user should also become
familiar with the SMARTABLATE™ RF Generator (or other STOCKERT RF generators) and all
accessories and read their instructions for use before using the generator or accessor
