Odin Technologies (Odin), a Virginia-based award-winning RFID company, launched an "ask the expert" service through their website last week. In exchange for an email address, a user's RFID question can be answered by an expert from Odin's engineering team within 24 hours.

The expert service went live on March 5 at a technology consortium conference. Responses are expected to provide unbiased, fact-based information to anyone who poses a query about RFID.

Patrick J. Sweeney II, founder and author of RFID for Dummies describes Odin's commitment to give value to end users. He said, "One way to do that is to cut through the marketing hype and provide real answers. Odin has built a reputation providing vendor-neutral guidance backed up by scientific fact. From our two educational and training books to dozens of research benchmarks, Odin is known for straight answers that help RFID vendors improve and end users succeed."

Sweeney added, "Technology breakthroughs in the last eight months have spurred RFID adoption particularly for IT Asset tracking and medical device tracking. We are seeing a lot of questions about everything from new metal mount tags and five cent tags from China to low cost readers and extraordinary location accuracy with passive RFID."

Along with expert answers, Odin's recently redeveloped website offers a media-rich experience for visitors including white papers, informative articles, and videos.

In collaboration with MIT, Airbus and Johnson & Johnson, Odin will be presenting a Fundamentals of RFID Success conference, an RFID Journal Live event on April 27 for anyone desiring a deeper look into RFID.

Odin Technologies provides RFID solutions for health care, aerospace, financial services, oil and gas, and government agencies. The firm also has offices in Tokyo, Dublin, and Budapest.
