Varian, a Siemens Healthineers company, has received FDA clearance for its IntelliBlate microwave ablation system, designed to enhance predictability, precision, and control during soft tissue ablation procedures.

Microwave ablation, a minimally invasive alternative to surgery, uses focused energy to destroy localized soft tissue and is increasingly significant in cancer care.

The system generates large, controlled spherical ablation zones, and accommodates single or dual probes, each with linked or independent controls, to meet diverse clinical needs. The Ximitry probe enhances precision and control with innovations such as Laser Disk Alignment and intuitive LED indicators.

IntelliBlate's compact, versatile design and user-friendly interface provide a portable and flexible solution that minimizes barriers to microwave ablation. Modular components allow clinicians to adapt their treatment capabilities to evolving clinical demands while maintaining operational efficiency throughout procedures.

"IntelliBlate combines features our customers prioritize for an efficient, integrated solution to achieve improved microwave ablation performance," said Dr. David Hahn, vice president and chief medical officer of Varian Interventional Solutions. "This innovative system offers new treatment versatility, empowering care teams to deliver highly personalized care."

IntelliBlate's development involved close collaboration between Varian and clinical experts, resulting in a comprehensive microwave ablation ecosystem. Future integration plans aim to connect intelligent therapeutic technologies and image-guided innovations, enhancing predictability in probe placement, treatment delivery, and procedural confirmation.
