"We buy and sell second-user imaging equipment -- CT, MRI, ultrasound, X-ray, and nuclear medicine," said Theresa Hogenhaug, director of sales and marketing. "We trade worldwide and work with all brands -- Philips, Siemens, GE, Toshiba and others, and have good cooperation with the OEMs."

EMM has 10 full-time people plus a team of dozens of freelance technicians who service a global client base in more than 80 countries. "We deintstall and install in Asia and Africa so we need people who can move out quickly," Hogenhaug said, adding that the company remains responsive to a diverse client base. "The market is different from hospital to hospital and country to country. In some places they exchange [medical equipment] every year; in other places it's every fifth year."

The company is a sponsor of the Danish Red Cross and benefits from the historic reputation of the Danish people. "Traditionally our culture is known to be trustworthy and reliable," Hogenhaug reported. "That is what separates us because a lot of people in this business [lack] morals or ethics but we are very active and very focused on being reliable and trustworthy....so it's been positive."

EMM ships weekly and worldwide out of its large Denmark warehouse using certified shipping agents. A regular DOTmed user, the Internet provides the company with an indispensable electronic infrastructure. "It's a very
useful tool for us and makes worldwide business go much easier," she said.

Expect big things from Epoka Medic Mission in the future.
