Visaris Americas announced on Wednesday that it has partnered with the ultrasound manufacturer Alpinion Medical Systems.

The company struck this deal as a way to secure business in several of its core markets, including the mobile home care imaging segment.

"We assessed several potential ultrasound providers but found that the image quality, as well as the use and function of the Alpinion platforms, were superior to other systems," Ron Viola, managing partner for Visaris, told HCB News. "Replacement costs, customer service and warranty were other factors that played a large determining factor in choosing the best partner to help meet our portable imaging customers' needs."

Visaris is now permitted to market Alpinion’s full portfolio of E-CUBE diagnostic ultrasound systems in the U.S. That will allow the company to offer its customers its Vision M lightweight portable X-ray system, along with the Alpinion E-CUBE i7 compact portable ultrasound platform, which Viola describes as an "exceptionally attractive complete imaging solution."

"It is important to us that we provide comprehensive solutions for our portable imaging customers — the ability to bundle packages in this cost-sensitive market is a true value-add," he added.

The E-CUBE i7 ultrasound was introduced in November 2015. At the time, it was the first laptop-style ultrasound system with a sliding keyboard cover, which prevents contamination.

The keyboard is also designed in a way that provides better support for the user’s arms and wrists while typing. A study conducted by Korea University Guro Hospital found that it significantly reduces carpal tunnel pressure and muscle tension.

It’s an attractive option for mobile home care imaging because of its small size and long-lasting battery. Due to its solid-state drive technology, it can be ready for scanning in less than 45 seconds.

According to Visaris, this partnership with Alpinion is the first of many partnerships it has planned for the future. The company’s ultimate goal is to offer its customers a “total imaging solution.”
