Sony Mobile and Arjo partner to market 'smart' RTLS system
Sony Mobile Communications and Arjo announced a partnership last Tuesday to market and sell a new real-time location system (RTLS) with built-in “smart” technology.
“We believe this partnership has a big potential for both companies, where Arjo can benefit from Sony’s extensive knowledge and experience within technology and digitalization, while the partnership enables Sony Mobile to leverage on Arjo’s over 60 years of experience in health care and its global direct sales network,” Joacim Lindoff, president and CEO of Arjo, told HCB News.
Sony Mobile, which is a leading manufacturer of audio, video, gaming and communication devices, is new to the health care field. The company believes that digitalization is the key to making health care safer and more efficient, according to Johan Svenér.
“Even though technical solutions are made available, it’s equally important that they are actually used,” he told HCB News. “From Sony Mobile we don’t only come with deep technical knowledge that can be applied to the sector, but we also have a long experience of making solutions that are really easy to use.”
The new “smart” RTLS system — Tracking Solutions — is a cloud-based solution that helps to lessen the amount of time spent on locating critical medical equipment in health care facilities. Health care use-cases were used to inform the technological and design choices.
This is only Arjo’s first step in its partnership with Sony Mobile — the companies plan to work together on digitizing other areas of health care. Sony Mobile also has plans to collaborate with other medical device companies to create these user-centric smart solutions.
