DETROIT – Christie Morgan, M.D., a physician in the Henry Ford Health System Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery, was elected to serve in a top leadership position in the American Medical Association (AMA) Young Physician Section. Dr. Morgan currently serves as chair-elect for one year. She will serve as chair from 2018-19, then immediate past chair from 2019-20.
The AMA Young Physicians Section focuses on the professional development of physicians under 40 years of age, or within the first eight years of professional practice after residency and fellowship training. More than 20,000 young physicians are members of the AMA.
In her leadership role, Dr. Morgan will play a role in leading the section’s efforts to accomplish its major goals, which include strengthening the value of AMA young physician membership in the following ways:

Enhancing young physician practice of medicine, including the transition into practice.
Facilitating the participation of young physicians in policy development and other activities of the AMA and the Federation of Medicine.
Promoting young physician leadership throughout organized medicine.
Dr. Morgan completed her medical education at Johns Hopkins University, Georgetown University School of Medicine and Boston University School of Medicine. She completed her residency in Otolaryngology at Boston University Hospital in 2014 and is board-certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology.
