RSNA 2016 Looks Beyond Imaging
Plans are underway for RSNA 2016, with exciting new sessions designed to push radiologists to think "Beyond Imaging," recognizing the larger role they play in the healthcare landscape. The opening session topic will be "Digital Revolution in Radiology – the Good and the Bad."
RSNA will partner with other societies, including the Society of Abdominal Radiology (SAR), the French Society of Abdominal Imaging (SIAD), the Korean Society of Abdominal Radiology (KSAR) and the Japanese Society of Abdominal Imaging (JSAI) to develop a symposium addressing new topics in liver imaging on Friday, December 2.
High-Impact Clinical Trials
The RSNA Board approved a new process to showcase the results of late-breaking, high-impact clinical trials in the annual meeting program. The process will provide a mechanism for important findings to be presented at the meeting, even if results become available after the close of the standard abstract submission period.
Qualifying abstracts will be peer-reviewed by a multi-disciplinary subcommittee. Up to three studies will be presented in a dedicated Special Interest Session allowing for longer, more in-depth presentations than are possible in the traditional format.
ACCME Accreditation
RSNA has received Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) Accreditation with Commendation, extending to March 31, 2022. ACCME accreditation is necessary for RSNA to provide CME credits for physicians through its annual meeting and various programs.
RSNA/SPR Partnership
RSNA and the Radiological and Diagnostic Imaging Society of Sao Paulo (SPR) have formed a partnership for the joint planning of the 2016 Jornada Paulista de Radiologia (JPR), the leading medical imaging meeting in Latin America. The meeting will be held April 28 – May 1. The two organizations teamed up to present JPR in 2014, and will partner again in 2018.
Collaboration for Educational Excellence
RSNA and the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM) have collaborated to produce 45 online physics modules designed to educate radiologists and radiology residents on important concepts in physics. These modules have logged over 100,000 completions since they were first made available in 2009. RSNA and AAPM are working together to ensure the modules provide the most current information. All 45 modules will be updated over the next five years.
