Rich Bares is the
executive VP of
sales & marketing
with Riverain Medical
Riverain Medical, a computer-aided detection (CAD) and advanced visualization technologies company, recently appointed Rich Bares as the executive VP of sales and marketing.
The company recently received U.S. Food and Drug Administration clearance for its SoftView product and obtained the agency's approval of its OnGuard product. SoftView is an image enhancement technology designed to increase the clarity of digital X-ray images. OnGuard is a CAD product that identifies nodules that may be early stage lung cancer.
This is an exciting time to join the company, Bares told DOTmed News, because the FDA's approval enables Riverain to bring its products to clinicians and their patients.
"This is one of those opportunities where you have the chance to use your experience and skills to build a business but also to really help people in the early stages of lung cancer," he said.
Bares brings more than 25 years of experience in the medical imaging and medical software industry to Riverain. He began working for GE Healthcare in 1983 and stayed with the company for nine years, where he learned the inner workings of radiology departments and imaging technology.
"That [experience] provided me with the foundation for the rest of my career," Bares said.
Throughout his career, he also held management positions with other prominent OEMs, such as Agfa Healthcare and Toshiba Medical Systems.
Bares also worked with several early-stage companies. As an executive VP of Acuitec, a company focused on commercializing preoperative software, Bares established the sales process and developed strategic partnerships.
In his new position, Bares is responsible for the go-to-market results and other support strategies for Riverain.
