into law today
President Obama celebrated his largest success since taking office when he signed the health care reform legislation into law Tuesday.

The reform has been a hot-button topic for decades and the passionate rhetoric from Democrats and Republicans has been particularly energetic with President Obama's push.

Republicans in both the House and Senate unanimously stood against the reform, citing concerns over bigger government and higher taxes. With the Democrats holding a solid majority in both the House and Senate the legislation moved forward without bipartisan support.

During the signing ceremony Obama said, "I'm signing this reform bill into law on behalf of my mother, who argued with insurance companies even as she battled cancer in her final days."

Although the legislation has been signed, Republicans have vowed to pursue every legal avenue to fight the legislation.
