This Beckman Coulter Allegra 6R Refrigerated Benchtop Centrifuge is in excellent cosmetic and tested working condition. Comes with a Beckman Coulter GH-3.8 Rotor (3750 rpm).This unit starts and and spins at the set speeds correctly. When tested with our hand held tachometer it reached a max speed of 3878 rpm(see pic). When set on low temp it reached -5C according to the temp gauge. (see pics) I have posted pictures of the the temperature gaugeand digital display with the unit running. This centrifuge is designed to reach 8000 rpm with the appropriate rotor.

The Beckman Coulter Allegra 6 centrifuge generates centrifugal forces required for a wide variety of applications. Together with the Beckman Coulter rotors designed for use in this centrifuge, the centri-fuge applications include:

Routine processing such as sample preparations, pelleting, extrac-tions, purifications, concentrations, phase separations, receptor binding, and column centrifugations.
Processing large numbers of small-volume samples in multiwell plates for concentrating tissue-culture cells, cloning and replicate studies, in-vitro cytotoxicity studies, receptor binding, andgenetic engineering experimentation.
Virus isolation.
Rapid sedimentation of protein precipitates, large particles, and cell debris.
Preparation of subcellular organelles such as mitochondria, granules, and crude microsomes.
Binding studies and separation of whole blood.
Cell isolation.

A refrigeration compressor circulates CFC-free refrigerant through copper tubing wrapped around the chamber bowl, which is insulated to increase refrigeration efficiency. A thermistor regulates the compressor to maintain chamber temperature to 2C of set temperature.

The GH-3.8 rotor, rated for 3750 rpm, is used in Beckman Coulter Allegra 6 series, GS-6 series, Spinchron series, and GP series centrifuges. This four-place swinging bucket rotor carries a wide range of tube and bottle sizes (from 1.5 to 750 mL) or single- to quad-pack blood bags in buckets, as well as 96-well multiwell plates in specially designed carriers. This rotor rapidly sediments protein precipitates, large particles, cells, and cell debris. It can also be used for binding studies and for separating serum from whole blood. The rotor yoke is made of stainless steel. Either buckets or multiwell plate carriers, both made of anodized aluminum, may be run by placing them over pivot pins on the arms of the yoke. Both buckets and carriers swing out to a horizontal position during centrifugation.

Condition & Testing

Very nice benchtop centrifuge in excellent cosmetic condition with minimal signs of previous use in the form of minor scratches on the outer steel case but no damage at all.The included rotor is original to the centrifuge and tested to perform at 3750 rpms. (You can purchase the other rotor that will spin 8000rpm's from Beckman Coulter.) The max speed is quickly reached and this unit cools down to -5C quickly when set on low. The digital diplay, knobs and safety lid lock are all working correctly. Guaranteed not to be DOA.
