AdventHealth is moving forward with a $43.2 million cancer center at its Winter Garden campus to address growing demand for oncology services in the region.
The three-story, 60,000-square-foot facility will serve patients in West Orange and South Lake counties and is slated for completion by summer 2026.
The project is part of a broader effort by the Altamonte Springs, Florida-based health system to expand access to specialty care. According to consulting firm Sg2, the Winter Garden area is projected to see an 11.7% rise in demand for PET scans and a 7.6% increase in need for radiation therapy by 2027. Nationally, demand is also trending upward across multiple cancer types, including gastrointestinal, women’s, prostate and blood-related cancers.
“Our responsibility is to ensure access to state-of-the-art cancer care, delivered in the most convenient way possible, with therapies that can be lifesaving and life-prolonging,” said Dr. Mark A. Socinski, medical director of the AdventHealth Cancer Institute.
Services at the new location will include radiation and medical oncology, immunotherapy, and treatments tailored to patients’ genetic profiles. Care teams will include board-certified oncologists, oncology nurses and nurse navigators.
The facility will also house the Eden Spa and Boutique, which will provide products and services for patients experiencing hair loss, lymphedema and post-mastectomy recovery.
“This new space has been designed to prioritize patient comfort, dignity and healing,” said Kari Vargas, CEO of AdventHealth Winter Garden and the Northwest market.
The institute was designed by architecture firm ESa. Brasfield & Gorrie is serving as the general contractor.
