Konica Minolta Medical Imaging said Monday it received marketing approval from Canadian regulators for its Aero DR Wireless system.

The system's 6.3-pound, flat panel detector incorporates the company's cesium iodide scintillator for high detector quantum efficiency, meaning it can take high-quality images at lower doses.

The Aero DR detector can also fit into existing wall stands or Bucky trays to convert analog rooms into digital ones. And its battery's designed for extended life and short charge cycles, the company said.

Wayne, N.J.-based Konica Minolta introduced the product at the Radiological Society of North America's conference in Chicago last November.
