This unit is very reliable on the X-ray side, but not so much on the drive side.
Made by Sedecal, and marketed by Virtual Imaging (Now owned by Canon), this unit would probably be fine in a small hospital, with low use.
We have three, two at a medium sized, busy hospital, and one at a small country hospital. The unit at the small hospital has been trouble free, probably because they opt for their AMX-4 or the RadPro.
The two at the medium hospital have exceeded their purchase price in service and parts over the past 5 years. They've experienced a high failure of both the drive axle shafts, and the drive gearbox shafts.
We found a solution to the gearbox issue, by sending them to Dayton Gear in Ohio, where the output shaft was redesigned, and the gearbox reassembled. The dealer that sold the portables also installed a Digital Motion Control board, that was supposed to stop the shaft breakage, at $1600.00 per unit. But it didn't help.
We haven't found a way around the drive axle, which would typically shear off at the sprocket on either wheel, other than replacing the axle with a new one from the dealer - so it is a continual service issue.
Virtual Imaging will only work with the dealer, so don't expect any support from them.
