The Noras 8-channel
multipurpose coil
Noras, a manufacturer of specialized MRI coils, has announced their latest
innovation, the CPC multifunctional coil (coil pair) with a holder.

The Noras 4+4 Multichannel CPC has been designed for the examination of smaller regions such as the extremities, joints, skull, jaw bone or carotid artery. It is also used in pediatrics with special positioning accessories and for motion studies in orthopedics.

In this multifunctional coil (coil pair), each coil half is configured as a 4-channel array that can also be used individually. The coil pair is supported by a holder ("clothes pin") that ensures correct positioning of the coil.

Parallel imaging is possible with every adjustment setting because of the positioning capability of the unit, and comparative images can be made of symmetrical body parts such as right and left eye, ears, etc.

It is available for 1.5T (Siemens Sonata, Symphony and Espree) and 3T (Siemens Trio) MR Units.

Because of its two-part construction, after removal of the upper section, the coil offers unobstructed access to an area of interest for the surgeon. The upper section can be reinstalled in the identical position for intraoperative or final imaging. This allows for optimum comparability of the images.

Thanks to its versatility, the CPC can also be used for surgical imaging in dentistry, and comparative right and left side studies can be made with ENT procedures. As noted, the setup is suitable for carotid artery examinations to localize thromboses.

Notable advantages of the CPC versus conventional coils is its excellent accessibility on three axes for the examination of rheumatic illnesses.
