PACS companies showing their wares at the RSNA meetings in Chicago are responding to the increase in the numbers and complexity of image data by placing emphasis on advanced visualization (AV) technology. Integration of AV functionality, allowing users to launch these capabilities directly from their PACS workstation software and access these tools from around the healthcare enterprise will be highlighted.

Many vendors will also highlight viewing and management of digital mammography. Digital dashboard applications will also be featured with vendors aiming to provide users with more management and monitoring capabilities to maximize PACS investments.

Growth in the PACS market is currently seen in small to medium-sized hospitals and imaging centers, and companies are trying to directly address these sectors. There will also be many PACS configurations for lower-volume sites at the RSNA meetings.
