The Society of Nuclear Medicine (SNM), the world's largest society for molecular imaging and nuclear medicine professionals held its 54th Annual Meeting, June 2-6 at the Convention Center in Washington, D.C.

More than 4,000 physicians, technologists, researchers, students, pharmacists and medical supply representatives from all over the world attended the meeting sharing research, learning about the latest breakthroughs and trends and discussing important issues in the field that have been making news. Session topics included brain amyloid imaging in Alzheimer's research, hybrid imaging, molecular imaging in clinical development and evaluation and more. Awards were presented to outstanding individuals in the field and a new slate of officers was also announced at the meeting.

In addition, more than 200 exhibitors filled the exhibition area showing off their products and services to provide solutions for today's nuclear medicine and molecular imaging professionals. For the first time, DOTmed had staff members manning a booth in the exhibit area. According to Sales Manager Mitchell Aguirre, hundreds of interested participants stopped by to learn more about making and saving money on used medical equipment and other ways that DOTmed services can help them.

"Being there for the first time, I thought the number of people who stopped by our booth was fantastic, and it shows me that we are recognized as a leader in the industry with the world's largest website offering ways to sell new and used medical equipment," said Aguirre.

What impressed Mitchell the most was the Royal Philips Electronic booth. "Philips had several new products on display - the GEMINI TF PET/CT, a time-of flight PET/CT, and the nuclear medicine debut of a "green" BrightView SPECT, among other technologies," explained Aguirre. "Philips products were definitely the 'buzz words' at this huge show," said Aguirre.

GE Healthcare and Siemens also had their latest products on display at the event. Stay tuned for the 55th SNM Annual Meeting to be held in New Orleans, June 14 -18, 2008.
