Dunlee Glassware Tip of the Month: CT Tube Warm Ups Extend Tube Life

Sponsored Content | September 13, 2012

As a general rule of thumb, tube warm up procedures should be performed at the beginning of the day or any time the system has been idle for two hours or longer.

Tube warm up is the generic description, but some OEMs use other terms including tube heat soak, tube gettering and tube conditioning. Regardless of the terminology, one of the most important elements of tube protection is to follow OEM guidelines. Refer to the manual and perform the series of exposures published to safely raise the CT tube to optimum operating temperature. As more demands are placed on CT equipment every day, warm ups are the best thing you can do to extend tube life whether you are using an original or replacement tube.
