Point-of-care ultrasound maker SonoSite Inc. said Thursday it named Mehran Mehrtash vice president and general manager of the Asia Pacific and Middle East regions, as the Bothell, Wash.-based company hopes to expand in China and South Korea.

Mehrtash comes from ConvaTec Inc., where he managed operations in China, South Korea and India. In China, he oversaw a team which grew from 10 staffers in 2008 to 100 this year, SonoSite said.

As part of his compensation package, Mehrtash will receive restricted stock units covering 22,000 shares, subject to certain conditions.
