Konica Minolta Medical Imaging USA Inc. said last week its Regius Sigma tabletop CR reader received Food and Drug Administration 510(k) clearance. The relatively compact device -- it weighs less than 70 pounds -- is designed for lower volume clinics and practices, including orthopedic, chiropractic and veterinary, the Wayne, N.J.-based company said.

The company said it was also releasing a Regius Sigma version of its Image Pilot, a package system that includes a CR console, image storage server and viewer. Image Pilot is also available with Regius 110 for higher-volume clinics, Konica Minolta said.

• Processing capacity: 45 plates an hour
• Power: 100VA max during operation, and 20VA when not in use.
• Maximum resolution: 4020 x 4892 pixels (14 x 17 at 87.5μm)
