After more than 22 years, Magnetic Resonance Managers Society, an educational and networking group for MRI managers, has dissolved, DOTmed News has learned.

The group's website has already been pulled down, the 21st century equivalent of the boarded up storefront. A notice reads that the domain name is for sale.

In a letter to members announcing its end, MRMS management cited lower than expected attendance at its annual conference in April and reduced financial support from vendors. The society dissolved as of Nov. 30.

"The membership has grown in knowledge from our interaction with our supporters," wrote society management, including Charles Deschamps, the MRMS president, in the letter. "It is for these reasons I feel especially disheartened to inform you of the dissolving of MRMS."

Its 19th and final conference was held in San Antonio last spring. DOTmed exhibited, along with Block Imaging International, Bayer Healthcare Pharmaceuticals, GE Healthcare, Genesis Medical Imaging, Hitachi Medical Systems of America and a handful of others. But a source on the scene said the number of attendees had dwindled from previous years.
